A Troop Leader is in charge of a Troop and is supported by Deputy Leaders and Assistants. The Leaders attend special training sessions aimed at ensuring the correct application of the Pedagogical Guiding Programme delving into the Guiding values and maintaining good and constructive communication with those around them.<\/p>\n<p>Guiding will offer you unique opportunities for activities, fun, learning and generally the opportunity to develop your personal skills.<\/p>\n<p>Trips, excursions, seminars, international camps are just some of the experiences offered by Guiding.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the experiences you gain from working with young children through working with other adults become life skills, because you gain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pedagogical knowledge,<\/li>\n<li>experience in the creative work with children,<\/li>\n<li>flexibility in using a variety of pedagogical tools and methods,<\/li>\n<li>organizational and coordination skills,<\/li>\n<li>ability to work in a team,<\/li>\n<li>creative thinking and imagination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are skills that will undoubtedly help you in your career and in your personal life.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t hesitate to join us even if you \u2018ve never been a Guide. Contact the Local Commissioner of your city or send us your details so that we can find the right Troop for you <strong>(Greek Guiding Association, 10 Xenophontos Street, 10557 Athens, Greece \u2013 tel.: +30 210 3235794, 3236548, fax.: +30 210 3235526, e-mail : <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:seo@seo.gr\"><strong>seo@seo.gr<\/strong><\/a><strong>).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div id=\"ultimate-heading-20736ab7232ce8d6b\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-20736ab7232ce8d6b uvc-8184  uvc-heading-default-font-sizes\" data-hspacer=\"line_only\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-20736ab7232ce8d6b h4'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h4 style=\"--font-weight:theme;margin-top:20px;\">Members of Local Councils \/ Members of Regional Councils<\/h4><\/div><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer line_only\" style=\"margin-bottom:20px;height:3px;\"><span class=\"uvc-headings-line\" style=\"border-style:solid;border-bottom-width:3px;border-color:#3e62bf;width:546px;\"><\/span><\/div><\/div><div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><p>The mission of the Local Council is to consolidate and develop Guiding in the community, so that as many children and young people as possible can experience the values of Guiding and develop their personalities.<\/p>\n<p><u>The Local Council has a duty to:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide the resources to enable the Leaders to be fully involved in the work of the Troop,<\/li>\n<li>promote the educational work of Guiding and the Troop\u2019s activities in the community,<\/li>\n<li>secure the moral and material support of the Authorities and the willing support of the local community,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For all the above we need people who are active, with modern views willing to volunteer consistently.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if you have a special interest in young people, you accept the principles and values of Guiding, you have at least a high school diploma, and you are at least 21 years of age, you can become a member of the GGA Local Council of your city. You should know that the members of the Local Council are elected, which means that the composition of the Council is determined after an election process that takes place every two years, usually every May.<\/p>\n<p>The Local Council meets regularly, at least once a month. Its members take on responsibilities (secretary, treasurer, public relations officer, etc), following internal elections. They are briefed on their role by the most experienced members and attend training courses. Finally, as all active members of the Guiding they wear a uniform, take an oath and pay an annual membership fee.<\/p>\n<p>The Local Council is supported and advised in its work by the District Commissioner, who is assisted by the District Council, which has a similar role and mission, with the emphasis on supporting the Local Councils.
