Since its inception, the Greek Guiding Association (GGA) has embraced an active and pioneering role in social engagement. In the current challenging times, it is inconceivable for us, Guides, to be absent.
Global issues and social and economic challenges our country faces necessitate a reevaluation of our priorities. Throughout this process, we remain committed to the core values of Guiding Principles.
We firmly believe that these challenges can be transformed into an extraordinary opportunity to rediscover our roots, both in a broad sense and with a renewed focus on shedding misguided objectives. It is a chance to embrace a more meaningful and creative existence.
In order to achieve that, we must demonstrate self-respect, while also respecting the individuality of others. Furthermore, we must extend our respect to nature and the environment, which generously enriches our lives. By perceiving the positive aspects of these hard times, we will once again take the lead and equip our children with invaluable tools to shape their future.
With these thoughts in mind, we continue to regard the training of our Leaders as our top priority. Our Leaders, many of whom are themselves under considerable strain from the said circumstances, selflessly devote their time and hearts to support our educational program. It is our responsibility to provide them with a framework of support and recognition, acknowledging their contribution.
The voluntary nature of Guiding is a key aspect of its appeal. Volunteering embodies responsibility, open-mindedness, and unwavering commitment to the cause. Let us not overlook the fact that the Greek Guiding Association (GGA) is an extracurricular, educational, non-governmental organization that aims to use the free time of children and young people in self-managing Troops, with modern educational methods and creative activities. It is a member of the World Association of Guides and has been active in Greece since 1932.
In all our endeavours, whether collective or individual, the child remains at the heart of our focus. Every child, in every corner of Greece, holds a unique position of importance as they are entrusted to us by their parents, who realize the immense benefits derived from our programmes. We are committed to aiding them in discovering the joy of responsible and free citizenship.
